Aideen Long completed a B.Sc. in Biochemistry at UCD and graduated with a PhD in Biotechnology from DCU. She joined Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2005 where she was appointed Senior Lecturer in Molecular Medicine. She was appointed Dean of Graduate Studies at TCD in July 2013. Prior to joining Trinity she held the post of Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Professor Long is a Principal Investigator in the Institute of Molecular Medicine where her research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. She was President of the Irish Society for Immunology from 2007 to 2013.
Professor Long is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
