Dr Kevin Byrne

Dr Kevin Byrne iKBs a Senior Research Scientist in the UCD School of Medicine. Based in UCD’s Conway Institute, Dr Byrne researches and lectures in genomics.

Originally training in theoretical physics at Trinity College Dublin, he has a 25 year track record of international impact with research that combines biological sciences, mathematics and computational science, and he is an award-winning instructor in genome analysis. Experienced in sectoral governance, he has served on the council of a national research funding agency, on the audit and risk committee of TU Dublin, and on the government working group on research infrastructure. He holds a Professional Certificate in Governance from the IPA. He has also served in community leadership roles in Dublin’s historic core, and been an active member of the boards of various civic and cultural organisations.
