Anne O’Connell elected as President of The International Association of Dental Traumatology

Anne O’Connell has been elected as President of The International Association of Dental Traumatology. 

Anne is Head of Paediatric Dentistry  and  Director of the Postgraduate training programme in Paediatric Dentistry in Trinity College Dublin.  Anne also set up the Trauma Clinic in the Dublin Dental University Hospital.  Training and education of healthcare colleagues  and educating the public in the correct management of traumatic dental injuries has been a goal from the beginning of the service.   Immediate appropriate management of traumatic dental injuries is essential for successful long term outcome.

The International Association of Dental Traumatology  is an international professional organization with global representation accross all specialties and general practice.  IADT’s mission is to promote optimal prevention, diagnosis and management following a traumatic dental injury all individuals of all ages. Oral injuries in a growing child can be particularly complex and management is often long term and multidisciplinary.  

IADT seeks to engage the lay public, sporting organisations, dental and medical colleagues to educate and prevent injuries where possible.  It also seeks to update and educate professionals on recent developments within Dental Traumatology  and free guidelines are available at www.iadt-dentaltrauma.org
