The Health Research Board has published their annual Health Research in Action publication, showcasing successful HRB funded research. This year’s publication features a section on oral microbiome research carried out in DDUH on patients with potentially malignant disease, led by Profs Gary Moran and Claire Healy: https://www.hrb.ie/publication/health-research-in-action/

The research is focused on using the microbiome as a tool to characterise the risk of malignant transformation and to determine if microbiome changes are themselves a risk factor.

The research was largely performed by PhD students Sheila Galvin, Ajith Selvaraj and Claire Crowley, with clinical support from Sviatlana Anishchuk.
