Congratulations to Nicole Kavanagh from the Microbiology Group Division IV who was awarded a prize for a poster she presented on her PhD research at the recent Infection Prevention Control Ireland annual national conference held at Croke Park on the 19th of May 2023.

Congratulations to all who took place in the Clinical Audit Presentation Evening on Thursday, May 18th.  The standard of audits was high and picking winners was a difficult task for the judges.

Sviatlana Anishchuk and Angus Burns graduated from Trinity College Dublin on Tuesday April 4th 2023 with Masters in Education, having completed the 3-year part-time programme in the School of Education, TCD. Ms Anishchuk is a Dental Hygiene Tutor and Dr Burns is a Consultant Orthodontist/ Senior Lecturer, both based in the Dublin Dental University Hospital.

Dr Kearney graduated from Trinity College Dublin on Thursday 6th April 2023 with a Doctorate of Philosophy in Oral Biosciences. Supervised by Professor Hal Duncan, Dr Kearney submitted her PhD Thesis entitled, “microRNA, Dental Pulp Cell Mineralisation and Therapeutic Epigenetic Modification.”

The Odontology Section of The Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland thanks our speaker, Dr Gabrielle O'Donoghue, and attendees of our final event of this academic year on Tuesday 14th March 2023 entitled 'Modernising Complete Dentures with the Digital Workflow.' During this synchronous online event Dr O'Donoghue discussed the current state of the art of digital workflow procedures as they relate to conventional complete denture fabrication, including the clinical and laboratory steps involved and the methods presently used to optimise the treatment outcomes of the resultant prostheses. An engaging Q&A session followed which lasted as long as the lecture; touching upon the intricacies of additive vs subtractive manufacturing, the effects of these developments on our environment, achieving occlusal control and the adoption of digital dentistry procedures within the pedagogy of dentistry. The session was recorded for asynchronous access and interested parties can feel free to contact the Odontology Section should they wish to access the recording.
